Transfer of Care

Certain pregnancies may be best managed directly by a Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist. We review all transfer-of-care requests individually.

Transfer of Care Requests

Transfer of care is considered on a case-by-case basis.

The most common accepted indications include:

  • Higher-order multiples
  • Fetal anomalies requiring intensive monitoring

For these situations, our physicians provide complete prenatal care and delivery management, offering a high level of coordination and surveillance.

Most other high-risk conditions are best served through co-management in partnership with the referring obstetrician.

How We Review Transfer Requests

Upon receiving a transfer-of-care inquiry, we:

  1. Review recent clinical records
  2. Evaluate indications for specialty-led prenatal care
  3. Determine appropriate care model (full transfer vs. co-management)
  4. Communicate with the referring provider promptly

Our priority is ensuring the safest and most appropriate care plan for each patient.
