Dr. Duerbeck attended the University of California, Irvine where he received his Bachelor Degree in Science cum laude. Thereafter, he attended Penn State Medical School and returned to Southern California for his residency training in OB-Gyn.

After eight years in private practice, he realized his true calling was high risk obstetrics. As a result, he then completed his fellowship training in Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Arizona where he was voted ‘Outstanding Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellow’ by the medical staff. He was also voted Governor’s Scholar in California and has served as an ‘Expert Medical Reviewer’ for the Medical Board of California. Dr. Duerbeck was voted one of America’s Top Obstetricians and Gynecologists by the Consumers’ Research Council of America. Dr. Duerbeck is board certified in both Ob-Gyn and Maternal Fetal Medicine.

As an associate professor of OB-Gyn and Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine at Southern Illinois University, Dr. Duerbeck published many scientific articles in his specialty over the years. He continues to do so now, and also gives lectures to Ob-Gyn physicians in San Diego regarding a whole range of topics including high risk ultrasound. Dr. Duerbeck lives with his wife and daughter in Scripps Ranch. Having been raised in Laguna Beach, Dr. Duerbeck’s primary hobby is surfing. It is a passion he has passed on to his daughter. They can be seen long boarding up and down the California coast and Hawaii.
